About Me

Hi! My name is Emmalee Norris and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My work with mental health started in 2013 and I have been a licensed therapist since 2021.

Crisis response and trauma work has always held my heart. Through graduate school, I supervised the suicide prevention and crisis line and after graduation I began working as a crisis clinician for Placer County’s mobile crisis team for three years. After getting married and having our first daughter I made the decision to step away from work in the community and transition to a clinician position with in the Placer County legal system. For five years I worked in forensic mental health specifically evaluating risk for clients that have been found not guilty by reason of insanity or incompetent to stand trial. Working in county mental health was very rewarding, but recognized that I was missing out on time with my family and was just plain burnt out and needed a change.

Once I left community mental health, I began providing individual and couples therapy and have since found my stride. I have discovered I genuinely enjoy supporting individuals and couples who are trying to find themselves again in marriage and parenthood.

I use a conversational approach to therapy and focus on ensuring you feel safe. Parenthood and the path there is challenging and the shifts can rock the foundation that we once had and impact both partners. Therapy should help both partners feel heard and confident in speaking openly with each other. I am a firm believer that often you already have the answers and simply need an outside person to help bring them out.
